OK, so now I will go and I will show you how to create a new data source because this report was using only existing data source.
We will go here, we’ll go home. We will go to Manage Data Sources to create a new data source.
We will go here, Manage Data Sources and New Data Source. Here we will put the name for the data source — let me demo data source. Let’s say we will choose SQL query and the connection that is used is this one, ACM three data source.
I have some queries prepared here. I will not show all of them but let’s say, because I want to show groups in interactive reports — how grouping works in Pentaho — I will choose this query. You just put your query here, data preview, to be sure that the query is existing.
OK, we are clicking finish here and we have a pop up that is asking us to keep the default model or to customize this model. Now most of the time we want to customize the model because we don’t want Pentaho to presuppose what to aggregate and what not. So we want to choose what should be aggregated or not.
So we are going here and this is what will be used in analysis. This will be used as a measure and these fields will be used as dimensions for interactive reporting. This is what is important to us and this is why I choose not to go with the default model because as you can see, the default aggregation here was selected to sum. We don’t want that — put it to none. The other things are good.
Now the data source is created and we can create a report based on this data source.
